Big Eden - one of my favorite unapologetic romance films. Also contains classic country-western music. Also, the film "Akron" on prime with an interesting plot line and a romantic theme.

I've noticed that there are more and more of these types of lists... They never have the movies Torch Song Trilogy or Making Love on them. Maurice is always on these lists but the two I've mention are hardly ever on a list like this.
Both movies are excellent, in my opinion. If you guys haven't seen them you really should check them out.

The original French 1978 film "La cage aux folles" starring staring Ugo Tognazzi and Michael Serrault (you might have seen him in the 1995 noir Diabolique) and with a terrific soundtrack by Ennio Morricone definitely stands out in this era. I'd also recommend "Bad Education" for Pedro Almodovar from 2004 for it's hilarious send-up of catholic based student teaching. From Canada, there is the extraordinary and complex tale set in a Quebec prison in 1952, "Lilies" by John Greyson from 1996 with the inmates doing a play within a play, take male and female roles. And finally may I recommend "Gaudi Afternoon" (2001) based on Barb Wilson's book of the same, set in Barcelona as trans folk have extraordinary experiences trying to solve a murder mystery in Spain. Each film will linger inside you for a long time after first viewing.

good choices. i've seen them all except capote. i did NOT like brokeback I hated the and it bothered me for quite some time afterwards. shelter was definitely one of my as well as 'just a question of love'.
