First Impressions of Regina, Saskatchewan | Downtown City Tour

Regina is the capital city of Saskatchewan, but it's actually not the biggest city in the province. Top attractions like the Legislative Building, Wascana Park and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum can all be found there. But as someone who has lived in Saskatchewan for most of their life, I strangely haven't visited Regina that many times and it was very long ago. Join me and my Dad as we tour around the downtown party of the city and get our first impressions about how the city has changed!

Travel Medical Insurance I use:

*I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.*

Great video! You’ve covered all the cities I’ve lived in Saskatchewan now. Interesting facts about Regina is that every tree you see, someone planted it there! Also, the lake in Wascana Park was dug out by hand during the Great Depression as a make work project, about 20 years ago it was deepened by machines. Some of the soil was used to build an island.

I've always thought Regina is a nice city. I'm from N.D. originally, just across the border, but haved lived in San Diego, CA now for the past 25 years. I think the Fargo metro area has now surpassed Regina in population, but I think Regina seems much more like a real city. The downtown is more developed than Fargo and of course the Legislative building with Wascana Park are spectacular. Canadians are truly nice people too.

Regina is a wonderful and underrated city in Canada. An interesting fact is that the Queen Elizabeth statue in front of the Legislature has her name and title displayed in French on the other side of it. I haven’t visited but I’ve loved seeing the city in JJ McCullough’s, Sprouht’s and now your video of the city. Wonderful as always.

I'm from Edmonton but went to the U of R for a specific program in the early 90's and I have to say it was the best time of my my life. There are no people as friendly as Sask people and I made lots of friends right away, many of whom I still have 30 + years later. I get very nostalgic when I think of those good times, it would be nice to go to the Lazy Owl for a beer and a Deadly Chedly burger.

Regina is a large, well kept and beautiful city. I didn't expect it to look as cosmopolitan as it is. Your Dad seems to like the smaller town vibe, and I can't blame him. Keep up the good work, and Happy, safe travels!

Your father is so direct in his answers, but yet right on point and very objective lol. Beautiful place, everything so well preserved and in order.

I lived in Regina from 1971 to 1979. I remember the museum and legislature building very well. Also spent many summers at Wascana lake. Certainly brings back a lot of good memories as I have not been there for many years.

I have been through Regina many times, but was usually on my way to Manitoba from Calgary. Now I wish that I had of taken the time to see it. It looks beautiful. Now I will be putting it on my list.

Nice to see that you had the good sense to avoid the part of town known as North Central. Whwn I last passed through Regina back in 2017, I stopped to have a look at Taylor Field. I was fortunate in that when I got there, the demolition contractors were just in the process of setting up and the west grandstand hadn't been demolished yet.

A lot of family and relatives trained their back in the day before being assigned to a post, I chose another avenue in the career fork in my road, go where the heart leads. Very nice video with your father Alina thanks for walk around. :)
