I am from the East Coast. Raised my two daughters here with just me and my husband. SD is America’s Finest City! Been in SD for 20 years. Don’t miss East Coast AT ALL! SD Forever!

SOOO true! Coastal Desert. Perfect description. I do miss the green mountains of Central/Northern California. SD is still very accessible to beach, trails etc. Not entirely sold on SD yet, but lovely place.

This is why I chose to rent from Banker's hill area because it's so lively here. I am not sure if I would survive the pandemic if I was isolated in remote area in San Diego.
I love our California, no matter what. I am from LA and San Diego for me is just right, and I am not moving. 😅
Nice conversation, and I love the way you two present the content.

As a native San Diegan, you’re on point with punctuality…some times people show up “around” the right time 😂. Also I wouldn’t necessarily say people are not friendly-I think people are more “chill” but most people eventually come around and appreciate friendships 😊

I have no sympathy for anyone who misses the seasons. Just take a road trip to the mountains or North. 😂

I feel called out! I'm late for everything all the time. Haha. I won't actually miss a flight or a movie or anything important, but if we're casually meeting up it's an "around" time, not an exact time.

SD used to be a little, sleepy Navy town. Smallish, affordable homes in Linda Vista, Kearny Mesa and Clairemont. The ocean has always been cold and gray. The homeless, traffic and population make it feel very not-my-home today. Coastal towns like Pacific Grove, Monterey and Carmel are appealing, however they are expensive and lack diversity. We’re staying here and suffering through… Ha ha ha Thanks for your video and perspective.

Everyone I know that have moved here from the East Coast, doesn’t miss the East Coast. All of them were clear that they would never move back to the East Coast. The only thing they miss is the family members they left behind.

The cost of living is extremely expensive but other than that, if you have enough $$$ to live comfortably, SD is ideal. Doesn’t get better in the US - Santa Barbara even better.

Moved here back in '75 from the midwest. No regrets. Also, no sympathy for those who say they don't like it here. If so, move on. If you can't be happy here then maybe the issue isn't San Diego. Also, San Diego is full. There's no more room. Stay out. Oakland sounds nice. Maybe Detroit. Decades ago CBS news 8 ran a news piece ( back when Larry Himmel did those at the end of a news broadcast ) that showed scenes from around San Diego that looked like all 50 states. There was literally some place in San Diego county that had a section that looked like every other state. You can drive from the desert up to the snowy peaks of Palomar then out to the ocean in a half day.

I grew up in San Diego and just found it really kind of boring, but everyone there is trying super hard to tell themselves that it's some kind of paradise just because of the weather. They really go out of their way to convince themselves that because they're not L.A., they must somehow be this wonderful place, but the problems they mention about L.A. are ALSO in San Diego. L.A. just has more culture and I think they're sensitive about that and try to pretend it doesn't exist.
