"How 2024 5e works with other products"
"It just does!"
Great video

So I don’t need to buy the 2024 books. I’m good with what I have. Got it. Thanks.

Title: "How it works"
Video: "It will work, there will be a guideline in the book but you won't need a conversion guide"

Still just as clueless as before, maybe slightly confused on top.

This is the equivalent of getting a cinematic teaser as an E3 trailer that doesn't show anything about what the game is like.

Everything WotC says about One D&D is a bunch of vague word soup that doesn't actually address concerns. It all feels very Tech Bro-y, very corporate. Instead of revitalizing my interest, I just feel more fatigued. Crawford in particular talks like he's trying to sell me a smart appliance.

This clarifies nothing. Why say anything at all if this is the answer you are going to give?

When I was getting into D&D I bought the Essentials Kit that gave me a code to access The Dragon of Icespire Peak (and 3 follow on adventures) on DND Beyond for free. That was great. It meant I could bring in my players to a campaign and we had the shared resource of an online rules glossary. Please do what you did for DoIP with the new core books.

Damn, those three could be politicians. I got no information out of those five minutes except for a list of buzz words.

When I look at my books from 2014, PHB 316 p. DMG 320 p. MM 353 p. ... Isn´t that already close to a 1000 pages? And if you are adding all those new things, what will you leave out?

Great news, I can just keep using my current books with all the new campaigns 😂

Came to the comments to see if I was missing something and no, I wasn't. XD

You said nothing, literally nothing. I only heard: "buy our new books, but don't stop buying our old books also".

This video felt like a whole lot of nothing...

The new books will work seamlessly with the existing 5E modules - they were never going to sit and give in-depth specific examples at this stage. If you want to continue to use the old Core books instead of the new ones, and carry on as you are, you can. If you want to buy the new books and cherry pick parts you like and leave out parts you don’t, then you can. You can literally play how you want to play - that’s the beauty of D&D. Some people just like to make a fuss over nothing it seems.

Sorry guys. I'm not buying the same books again.

See, I WANT a conversion guide. I want to know if one of my players has a sixth level warlock, how do I shift it so they play with the new improved material.

After all this time talking about this updated rule set, I'm still in the dark on how player options, classes and subclasses from previous books are meant to be compatible with 5E 2024.

Judging by the playtests, this new version is making some fundamental changes to how some of the core classes work. In practice, how does that actually mesh with pre existing player options built around different design philosophies?

I don't care what they say... somehow I am going to have to purchase the DMG, PHB and MM again. Plus I need to have them in DNDBeyond and Fantasy ground... SMH

Making the game more accessible to new players would require overhauling the organization of the books to make it it easier and more intuitive to find the info you need. I would LOVE it if the new editions were reorganized to be more usable. I'm not sure BIGGER books will make the game more accessible.
