Advice from an older lady - Mentally stop time at three AM after the baby has puked all over you and fallen asleep in your arms. Best, best, best ever. Make a serious mental effort to absorb that time completely and fully. The days are long, but the years and decades are mightily short, and that baby will turn 30 tomorrow.

I had to learn to be present. I was always thinking of what's next, I wasn't paying attention to what's around me. I was missing out on my life.

Children live in the moment. They don't think about the past or the future. They are a good reminder to be present in the moment. We should be more like babies and young children being present in the moment. They also have so much joy about life. They notice the leaves and the small things. My daughter who is 1 dives on to cushions and pillows and laughs. It is the simple pleasures! Xx

*This Will Open Your Mind*

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.

*I LOVE YOU* 💕

Slow living and mindfulness truly changed my life. The key for me is making the decision to slow down. Once you realise this you will find ways in your everyday life to practice mindfulness. ❣️

You're right. It was very liberating when my mom, during the last year of her life, asked me why I was reading a book I wasn't enjoying. It wasn't an assignment. It wasn't adding anything to my life, yet I had felt obligated to finish it. I've recently decided to do this halfway through season 4 of "Stranger Things". Life's too short to continue doing things you don't enjoy.

Ooh Gabe you hit 2 nails on the head for me- I just had a baby a couple weeks ago (first girl!), AND my husband is going blind from a retinal disease.
I am usually a go-go-go kind of girl and have a few side gigs I get to hustle at (social media marketer for small business, freelance tutor, independent contractor with a tutoring company). Plus I do all the driving for our family. It’s been REALLY imperative that I slow the fluff down for postpartum.

I write in a Calendar my plans and what I have already done. Why not savor the details of the day.

Great video. Thanks for sharing your insights.
Something I repeat daily is: I am where I need to be, doing what I need to do, embracing who I am right now. I accept what is and I choose to enjoy the moment because it’s the only thing I got.

"Wherever you are, be all there! Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God." Jim Elliot
I love this quote! A good daily reminder; daily because it is easy to get distracted by things that don't really matter.
I really liked your garden analogy :)

the thing i miss the most these days is the feeling im worth something, helping to build something for the common good, its just so lifeless, sleep eat work repeat, there is nothing in it, just you living you carreer and living it out, if i want to do something in my country i got to work allot and save allot, so doing nothing is the best way to save money, which makes my days very lifeless, i would love to move to another country with more nature and a way closer community were we all know and help eachother out, that would be more living then i live now :)

I had to look up ROI. As a single mom of 3, mine is rather alternative, but still super real.

Your tip on seeing the world like every moment and every place you are is the last time you might see it or be there is very real. I know because I spent a year under threat of violent death and it was absolutely true that everything I saw became enhanced. I realized how green the trees were, how blue the sky was. It is hard to get into that state under normal conditions.

Thanks for the things to consider. Seeing your beautiful daughter at the end of the video was so sweet! She is so cute and watching her walk in the water on the beach was really neat. To me, those are the most memorable times to slow down and experience with family and friends.... you know, making memories. Love it!

I just watched one of your minimalism videos. At the end you asked us to subscribe cause you want half a million subs and a a Tesla. I had to subscribe to honor my son Tanner. He loved YouTube and dreamed of having tons of subscribers. And he LOVED Teslas. So they always make me think of him. Especially the blue ones! He died 3 years ago this month, just after his brother.
Your video made me feel close to him. Thank you 😭
