Manatee Slipping Away

After 14 years since our first "unsuccessful attempt" to bring my daughter Daphne Tucker eye to eye with these gentle marine giants we finally did it. But the fate of our Manatee is even worse than it was then. Habitat loss, destruction of it's food source "sea grass" and boat strikes thanks to more powerful engines that enable mariners to travel 80 miles an hour have all combined to create a trend toward extinction. It's been documented that 1100 died last year in 2021 and at least as many are projected to die again in 2022.
