Honestly this is the cutest little apartment with all the necessities AND a washer/dryer! I think this space has a lot of potential.

I think you should’ve went with a sofa sleeper that way when you’re not sleeping you can fold it up and have a little extra room. Just a thought 🤷‍♀️

Get a raised bed frame. You can put your suitcases under the bed, and use them to store your off season in them.

I feel like this space has great potential!! Following to see what you do with the space! I just moved to NYC in June and have loved decorating our space and making it perfect for us!

Oh wow! This is a wonderful little apartment. For NYC - it is really a win. Good luck!

Love the kitchen, better than many in larger apts. I've seen. The big windows and the window in the bathroom are major pluses! Personally....I'd get a smaller bed. Double, at the most--that looks more like a queen. I think the commenter who said, put the head against the left window was right. Facing either direction, really--towards the door or towards the brick wall, but a smaller bed. If facing the door, you could use a low dresser as a "footboard" and room divider/space delineator. Maybe put a gauzy canopy over the bed--easy to suspend from the ceiling--to give the bed an extra touch of privacy and separateness. The full length mirror covering the breaker box is a great idea and would probably work with either bed position. Then you can use the area by the kitchen along the brick wall for the little table and a chair, and you might even have room for a small desk by the right window--if the bed's facing the door, anyway. Just ideas! It's fun to imagine spaces. I'll be excited to see what you figure out! I'm sure it will be lovely and comfy.

Best of luck in NYC! Currently in LA but headed back to FL for sometime. NYC maybe in a few years... :)

You should get an 18 inch high bedframe so that you can slide your suitcase under it. They sell them on Amazon for like 80 to 130 bucks.

I'm anxious to follow along with you in your move. Lots of good suggestions in the comments. It's amazing what can be done with the tiniest spaces. Eat and rest, you don't want to get too run down. Remember "and this too shall pass".

If it would work, moving the bed to the corner underneath the left hand side window and facing the kitchen may give you more room and you would have that whole brick wall to maybe put a small seating area. Adding a small chest at the end of the bed (kind of like a “footboard”) may help to separate the space some when you walk in the door. You could decorate the the chest at the end of the bed and it may double serve as a sort of entry way. Like maybe with a lamp and a special decorative item that you love. It would give you some storage too. Does that make sense?!?

Be careful hanging a mirror over the electric box. You can get a shock if the screw hits the wrong place.
