I have the same first name, and he escaped on my birthday. I hope he survived and was able to live a long and fulfilling life

My dad escaped the same way, but stripped naked. He escaped twice, once from Buchenwald and the other from a train at the end of the war and was captured by US soldiers. My dad survived, but his family didn’t know what happened to him, until 1948, he left for the war from Warsaw in 1942.

My father was in Dachau - his prisoner number is listed in the Holocaust museum ..my mother was in a forced German labor camp for 18 months when taken in France ..she was released because she had a German birth certificate born in Koln ( Cologne) .. but nobody can find any information about her during the imprisonment - she declared herself statenlos ( without a country) for many years ..she was fed up with politics and wars ..
