This album represents the beginning of a creative and commercial zenith for Rea. Shamrock Diaries was a huge seller in Europe, reaching the Top 20 in several countries including Germany, The Netherlands and Great Britain. The album was also successful in Australia, where it reached number one.

Don't lose your faith in humanity yet mate, I've raised myself on this kind of music since infancy back in the Hampshire Pond. I won't be the kind of person that simply allows this music to slip away. I'll be playing it all night at my home county BBQs back home, and never will I nor anyone around listen to this track without dancing around the place with joy to the sound of the Blues. My generation hasn't lost it's taste entirely, as all my friends have the same taste I do, so don't be too sad.
