I have read Middlemarch and enjoyed it - I think you will too. That is a great selection for Louisa May Alcott. I love Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom. Daddy-Long-Legs is fun and I like its sequel, Dear Enemy, even better. The Scarlet Pimpernel is about an Englishman who goes into revolutionary France to rescue people from the guillotine - a great adventure story. The rest of your list is terrific also. Happy reading!

Middlemarch is incredible. The study of virtue embodied in the characters along with actions and consequences is remarkable.

I love Middlemarch, Silas Marner, Daddy Long Legs, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The Treasure Seekers! Great list! I agree with another commenter that Dear Enemy by Jean Webster is equally delightful. I miss Janelle too!

I love your list!
I enjoyed Middlemarch a lot more than I thought I would. I have Daniel Deronda on my list for this year.
Daddy-Long-Legs was so much fun. I read it in one sitting for Epistolary January.

OMG! I had the pleasure of reading "Middlemarch" last year for the first time and I was so surprised by how much I LOVED it. I hope you love it too!

Mitzi, what a beautiful collection! You will have such an enjoyable year. Have you read The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery? It's one of my favorites.

I'm so excited for you to pick up so many of these! If you want to watch Shakespeare plays after reading them and don't know where to start, I have SO many recommendations (if you'd like them).

The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of my favorite reads from this month. It did not read like a classic. I loved it!

I always enjoy your videos, Mitzi. They're so wide-ranging and interesting (and I love your accent!). I think you're spot on in your liking of the 'No Fear Shakespeare' series. They've been so useful to me, as an ex-English teacher here in the UK, when trying to get my students to understand and engage with whichever play they're studying. Louisa May Alcott was always a favourite for me as a youngster. A favourite aunt of mind bought me a keeper-copy way back in the day, and I can't remember how many times I read it. You mention the Nancy Drew series in another of your videos; another childhood favourite! Go, Nancy! Did you ever read the early books by Katherine Applegate - the 'Making Out' and 'Ocean City' series especially; addictive! George Eliot is a personal favourite of mine, and 'Middlemarch' is so worth the time. Are you buddy-reading that one? Not sure how that would work with me being in England, but maybe ... You've also renewed my curiosity about Edith Wharton. I haven't read anything of hers, and would like to. Where would you recommend I start?

I read Scarlet Pimpernel in high school and remember it was a fantastic period spy tale. Loved it.

These look fantastic! I miss Janelle, too! She left such a void for mystery recommendations- I still go back to listen to her videos🥰

Man Who Was Thursday is so good. I'm loving Chesterton's writing! I have two copies of Solar Marner but haven't read it yet; same for Middlemarch, 2 copies. My TBR for this year is pretty stacked, so I don't know that I will get to them this year.
I read Old Curiosity Shop last year and it's my least favorite Dickens, but that's probably because I wanted to love it so much. We have my husband's grandmother's Old Curiosity Shop dishes set we use all the time and I wanted the connection. I think the other Dickens on your list is also on mine for this year. All your books look wonderful and I can't wait to hear what you think of them.
