The Jeopardy dominance of Ken Jennings

#kofiewhy James Holzhauer is great but he has a lot of work to do to catch up with Ken Jennings

Think of some of the greatest streaks in history

Nope we’re not talking about… nvm.

I’m talking about Connecticut women's basketball team wins 111 in a row, The New England Patriots winning 20 games, Joe Dimaggio hitting in 56 straight games. However when we go beyond the world of sports there is one more streak that we should talk about. 74. This is the story of Ken Jennings.

Ken Jennings was born in 1974 just outside Seattle, Washington, but grew up overseas.

According to his website His family spent fifteen years Korea and Singapore, where his father worked as an attorney. There he would spend hours watching TV on the Armed Forces Network, where he watched Jeopardy! religiously after school every afternoon.

My favorite part is that he always writes his name differently

Fun fact about both Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer: in both of their 18th games, the 2nd place challengers set record losing scores. Michael Cudahy in Ken Jennings' 18th game had $44, 400, and was the "winngest loser on Jeopardy!" for 15 years until Adam Levin had $53, 999 in James Holzhauer's 18th game.

It's very interesting to think about how scary good both of them would've been if they had walked into "normal" Jeopardy! scenarios! Both had the inner workings of an elite player in them, and in an alternate timeline, where things go do differently (where Ken's "who is Jones?" response wasn't accepted in his very first game and Satish steals the 2nd DD from James in his 2nd game), I could easily see both of them becoming super champs themselves!

While I have no doubt that Ken Jennings is the Jeopardy! GOAT, i will say that I believe James Holzhauer is the most dominant Jeopardy! player of all time. His style, if adopted could change this game forever. The reason he is seemingly unbeatable is because people refuse to play his system. He goes bottom to top and in a similar style to Chu, hunts for Daily Doubles. But what works in Holzhauer's favor is that because he goes bottom to top, giving him more money to wager on Daily Doubles. He doesnt take risks, if he doesnt know it fight away, he doesnt buzz unless someone has gotten it wrong. He. Is. Insane.

Crazy that we really have someone that might challenge Ken, in James Holzhauer. I'm convinced he's a glitch in the human race

As of today, Ken Jennings is just one match away from officially becoming the greatest Jeopardy contestant of all time.

I don’t watch Jeopardy and less Ken Jennings is on! I have all his memorabilia and now he’s writing children’s books which is signed for me for my granddaughter. He has the best sense of humor very humble and watching us again brings back memories of me sitting every night on my couch waiting for a Jeopardy to come on

Interesting note is that Holzhauer is passed the half way point in earnings which is almost as impressive has his current win streak.

James's strategy is superior to Ken's. He starts with the highest dollar amount questions and loads up as much as he can before he hits a daily double, and then consistently bets aggressively knowing that he'll be right 80% of the time. His score grows exponentially when things are going well. He might even break $200K some day when he's really feeling it and his competition is sorry.

Eventually he'll get caught and lose to someone who lucks out and gets all the daily doubles, bets a ton, and gets them right or he'll just have a cold streak, cut things too close, and lose kind of like Ken did. It's must-see TV though. I'm loving Jeopardy harder than ever right now.

You folks have forgotten about my former favorite Chuck Forrest! He was a 5 game winner! Later in time I saw him on Fox News as a CORRESPONDENT FROM England. They are all very gifted!! Anyone remember Chuck Forrest?
