Dr. Kiat W. Tan has played an instrumental role in the transformation of Singapore from a Garden City to a City in a Garden, through efforts including the development of parks and gardens, the protection of nature reserves and nature areas, the conservation of biodiversity, and the strengthening of the green fabric of Singapore through streetscape greenery, skyrise greenery and the Park Connector Network. He spearheaded the development of Gardens by the Bay and undertook the mammoth task of translating this unprecedented project from drawing board to life. Since opening in 2012, Gardens by the Bay has established itself as a must-see horticultural destination and an international icon of green Singapore.

City in Bloom pendant is inspired by Dr Kiat W. Tan's favourite flowers, the Paphiopedilum, and symbolises Singapore's unrivalled reputation as a City in a Garden.
