I agree, the R6 is a beast of a camera... I have that and the R and I’m considering selling my R and getting another R6, but only so I don’t have to think about what I’m doing. But I just love my R too!!! Only thing I don’t understand is why people keep thinking that you need high resolution for billboards tho. That’s not how it works AT ALL! I’ve shot for several billboard advertisements with a 1.5 megapixel camera and a 30 megapixel camera... I’ll give away my R6 to someone and buy them another one if they could spot the difference by looking at them! Anyway, nice review!

The R5 and Capture One are a wonderful combo. Lightroom is also great for dedicated LR fans.

I’m still deciding if I should get the R5 or the R6, I look at the top LCD on my 5D a lot, do you miss using it with the R6? As it doesn’t have it. It seems the R6 has smaller grip than the R5 too. Was it noticeable? And also any noticeable difference for the smaller screen size and resolution? I managed to play with the R5 by Canon here (Malaysia) but not the R6.

If you have a budget for 2 R6’s I would get a R6 and a 28-70 RF lenses

Im using the 600 f11 with the R6 so im always at high iso and i can say i get great stuff at 6400.

Funny you mention the desaturated look of the R. I always had weird white balance issues and the colors did seem a bit off in LR and this is even comparing straight to previous gen DSLRs like the 5Diii and D70D. Both DSLRs had better colors to me... I thought it was just me imagining things but I suspect Canon messed their colors up with their first go at mirrorless. Also, my images from the R always looked better when processing them through Canon Digital Pro software.

I still can't figure how quick it is for hybrid work. Ive seen videos saying it a slower process than say nikon video/photo switch that saves your last settings.

Cool video. You’re not the first one talking about the different rendering of the colors between the R5/R6 and older Canons. Want to try it to see by myself :)

And FYI the R6 and 1DXIII don’t have the same sensor. R6 sensor has been developed based on the 1DXIII sensor but it’s definitely not the same one :)

How do you deal with the fact, that Lightroom doesn't have the camera matching profile for the R6?

IMO with the R the camera Standard looks better than Adobe Color. I like the out of camera jpeg colors, so it's really annoying not to have the profiles for the R6

How do you toggle the lcd on and off? I shoot the 5d mark iv where you press the record stop/start button to go from the black screen to the live view screen. I notice these don't have that button any longer. Thanks

The problem there is no camera profile for R5 and R6 provided by Adobe. Adobe profiles used by lightroom doesn't render Canon's colors correctly.

Have the r5 and r6. Once you’ve had the r5 in your hands for a while, the r6 does feel run down a bit from the evf and the feel of the body is def tougher than the r5. I was using the S1r and a7riv before the r5. Bring the r6 to my eye the evf is super noticeably lacking in comparison. Still a great camera for sure, given how cheap these displays are, I think canon should of kept the displays the same for r5/r6.
