"I'm in love with what she's got
and what she's got is an awful lot"

Poetry, love, lust and lecherous cat callling all rolled in one playful lyric!!

A fine nod and remembrance to all the aunts who lived as lifelong "spinsters/widows with their best female friend" and the widows/spinsters who moved in and lived their lives with those wonderful aunties.

Yes Father, I am VERY blessed to have such a caring and loving friend.

The Father as he's blessing their newly renovated house: *~Completely misses the fact that there's only one bed, the table chairs sit side by side, there's only a loveseat and the joined handprints on the freshly poured steps by the front door~*

"She kissed a tree last summer, ohh, she started a forest fire"

That line is so powerful! ❤

Edit: Mom I'm famous and people are fighting in the comments!

And historians would say 'They were such great friends'!

Sappho and her friend.

It warms my heart to know that a piece of media this old, especially of this nature, has been able to survive through.. everything that's happened between then and now. 3 years from now it'll have lived a full century. That's incredibly beautiful to me, particularly now that this video guarantees it'll continue on.

I'm a hetero woman but this banger is going straight to my playlist! Such a lovely tune, perfect for next fall (when I mainly listen to jazz n blues and similar stuff), lovely upbeat and oh the ROMANCE in the lyrics! Absolutely love this song.

This song titled "It All Belongs To Me" was composed by Irving Berlin (yes, a _man_ ) for the Ziegfeld Follies of 1927 which was a Broadway musical revue that opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City on August 16, 1927 and ran until January 7, 1928.

The show featured music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, with Franklyn Baur originally debuting the song's performance. It seems Ruth Etting (who was one of the best known female vocalists of the 1920s) only agreed to perform the song because Franklyn Baur later developed a sore throat and the show producers couldn't hold an audition for a replacement male vocalist at very short notice.

Notably, all other recordings of the song from the 1920s were done by men.

The “and I’m repeating” makes this unquestionably les and I love it.

Old timers: this generation is just so explicit and out there
This song: exist
Old generation: I can explain, they were roommates!

I kind of grew up with this music. I'm 82 and my family was all about music and dancing. A great influence! My grandparents had a Victrola with the big speaker horn and a crank to keep the tunes coming!!
