Paddle-wheel steamer GALLIA: running engine 01

Показать описание
There are five paddle-wheel steamers on Lake Lucerne. Their steam engines are all different to a larger or lesser degree. The four ships with a two-cylinder engine are the more fascinating ones, as there are many more different moving parts that can be seen. The steam engine of the Gallia was built in 1913 by the then well-known Escher-Wyss company. It is the youngest of the two-cylinder class steamers. Here we see the engine running at a rather leasurely pace. There is no reason to rush as another ship has to use the station first. But the Gallia is the fastest steamer on any European fresh-water lake.
