I thought at first maybe the problem was the firefighters getting electrocuted when they tried to spray water on the car LOL

You're supposed to use class D extinguishers not water.

40000 gallons in the middle of a drought, rich people really don't care. Not to mention who knows what fumes the firefighters are exposed to from batteries. I'm starting to think public transportation is the way to go.

"Fighting climate change we must swap ICE for EV" not too sure about that chief? in a wells to wheels analysis which takes into account how batteries/lithium are mined and the process that involves finally actually making a workable EV the hybrid with a much smaller battery pack and a range extender running on domestically produced RNG i.e renewable natural gas actually has superior well to wheel! even a pure ICE running on RNG or Green, Methanol (direct capture CO2) or Bio-LPG could be better...

Fires?? Many people are not ready to deal with the mechanical repairs to those vehicles. I went into an autoparts store and ask the workers were they ready for electric cars they all yelled at the same time "NO"!

I love how all these people are surprised a battery caught fire and have no idea what started it... cell phone batteries... vape pens. And still do not do the research of why lithium ion batteries catch fire when they are damaged..

If fire fighters aren’t prepared to put out an electrical fire, they are not fire fighters..

As an analogy, I have never found a pair heavy duty dog clippers that won't overheat.

It is Extinguisher D--Dry Powder extinguisher. and has been and hasn't changed. I just checked. (It still eliminates the oxygen element from the fire and "cools".)
Fire dispatcher or any dispatcher continuing to ask for vehicle type or else all fire agencies having multiple of these extinguishers at hand when responding to traffic fires.
I took a hazmat class back in 2015 and I learned Ext D continued to be focused upon for electrical fires.
NTSB needs to get funding for firefighters to take classes and get certified have similar strong foundation of knowledge.
I am not in fire service or a dispatcher. Odd this issue exists.

When there is a casualty trapped and the car is on fire following an accident, the fire won't go out and the car needs cutting and dashboard lifting, this is why car manufacturers need to do something like cone up with something to put it out or a battery that can come off

The batteries are full of Lithium which burns when it comes in contact with water. The Lithium is the source of the problem. I am not trying to knock Lithium batteries. I grew up with toys that constantly needed new Alkaline batteries and I also had a early cordless drill with Ni Cad batteries. The Lithium batteries I use now are way better however they come come with the draw back of being a fire hazard under the right circumstances.

There are far fewer electric vehicles catching fire than gasoline vehicles. Of course, there are far more gasoline vehicles than electric.

News flash: firefighters are no longer using foam on electric fires. Wonder if there's some solution to this problem?

We need trains. This is why we need trains. 4 seat electric vehicles don’t really combat climate change either. Trains. They’re extremely efficient, extremely fast, and extremely safe.
