Testing the Gypsy Quilter Bowl Cozy Template | Quilted Bowl Cozy Tutorial

Hey, Everyone! Today, we're making a quilted bowl cozy! This super easy quilt project can be made in about 30 minutes, plus they make great gifts! What makes this tutorial so special is we are trying out the Gypsy Quilter Bowl Cozy Template, and let me tell you...this tool works! It takes the guesswork out of where to put the darts and what size to make them. I highly recommend this tool to anyone who wants to make several bowl cozies this year (or any year, for that matter!) A bowl cozy is a fantastic beginner-friendly quilt project, and since you use jellyroll strips to create the body of the cozy, they're super quick to make too!

About 6 years ago I made bowl cozies for some of my co-workers. At one point I had the fronts and backs piled high on my table with only a few days left to finish. I thought, what did I get myself into. I finished them, about 30, and they still talk about them today and are still using them.

A dear friend of mine gave me a set of varying sized bowl cozies years ago and I use them the time! If you haven’t made these yet…DO IT! Everyone in your life will want a set too so prepare yourself for a lot of requests :)

You can even store the cosies with the bowls in them. That would serve 2 purposes, the bowls would be protected and the cosies would be stored without taking any extra room a bonus if storage is at a premium.

I was making bowl cosies for last Christmas, but utterly forgot about them when we got Covid on Christmas Eve. I should get back to that; I was using a free pattern with a paper template for rounding the corners. The construction was pretty much the same, though!

Miriam, are you stitching on the batting with the darts or just on the fabric that is triangled? I can't see.

If you own an Accuquilt BIG electric die cutting machine their bowl cozy die is amazing. You cut one layer of batting and one layer of cotton at the same time and everything is always identical in size. Obviously this option doesn’t apply to most people.
