What she said is very good advice for visitors who want to be polite in general bc some places it isn't allowed Esp crowded touristy places), and generally we are taught that it is bad manners. However, it depends where and what. You can easily find people drinking even alcohol while walking in Japan. Eating is more frowned upon, we won't eat a hamburger, but maybe a small street food. If you are enjoying a burger and coke while walking, we think you are unmannered, but if it is only coke, it’s ok😂
