ALL ABOUT READING REVIEW | Is it better than The Good and The Beautiful?

My All About Reading review is finally here! I'm sharing my thoughts on this homeschool reading program and whether or not it is better than The Good and The Beautiful homeschool curriculum.

All About Reading Level One is what we've been working through and we're about half way through the book now.

Switching TO TGTB level 2 (from abeka) tremendously helped my daughter soar in reading.. but with my son we had to stop with level K TGTB and switched to AAR also. Love it so far!

We love AAR!! The different appendix sections in the back of the parent book have a lot of fun ways to practice the words too. We use those ideas a lot!

Yes! I love AAR! We slipped our progress chart into a page protector sleeve and just fill in with a dry erase marker! Fun!

I love using AAR as well! I leave that it leaves no stone unturned. It’s very thorough and detailed and works great for us.

I follow April on IG too and have been eyeing AAR. I’m definitely going to be purchasing it now because I value your opinion. My son does amazing with reading but my daughter has a hard time so this would be perfect for her. Thank you for sharing!!!

I’ve heard great things about AAG. It is pricey but it comes with so many extras that are necessary to have a fun and effective curriculum. We’re using TGTB but I’ve started researching AAR.

Thanks for the video! I’m using ordinary parents guide to teaching reading before I plunge into TGTB level K. I agree that there needs to be some reading work done prior to getting into their K level! I love the games aspect of AAR but I’m not sure how long I will be homeschooling so I didn’t want to commit to the price.

I’m having a hard time deciding if I should just continue Good and the Beautiful. I can get AAR level 1-2 used for a very good deal so I’m going to do that. Then maybe after level 2 go back to a good and the Beautiful. I think I’m going to have to be that mom that uses both programs as well. I also have Dash into learning, I always get to a place where I need to pause and do something else hit honestly my kids do need the change sometimes too!

Right now my 5 year old son is using The Reading Lesson teach your child to read in 20 easy lessons and TGTB level K at the same time ( I’m only doing 1 lesson a day on TGTB ) and my son is enjoying it, he is moving quick in the reading lesson so once he finishes it, I’m considering getting the All about reading just not sure whether or not to get the 1st or 2nd.

I just got my AAR curriculum and I'd love to set it up in a binder like you do. Do you have a video about how you did that, or can you recommend one?

I am currently using, How to teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons. I think you use it as well. Does this build on that book or replace it?

Do you think it's a good transition from the good and the beautiful primer k and supplement to all about reading level 1? I started level 1 with my oldest after he had completed first grade so he already knew how to read a bit. My oldest has finished all levels of all about reading and he reads amazingly well and loves reading which he disliked very much out of public school when we started. All about spelling is amazing too! My oldest has since transitioned to the good and the beautiful level 3. I love your videos by the way. Thank you for sharing!

Did you consider Logic of English before you chose AAR

We are currently working on the good beautiful pre k & will transition into Primer k.. would you say this would be good to transition to after Primer K TGTB to Level 1 AAR? Or should I just move forward with Level K TGTB

Would you recommend level 1 for a 4 year old who knows his letter sounds? I have a 6 year old who would benefit from this but to buy pre-reading and level 1 would be pricey for me. 😅

Thank you. This is very helpful. Have you heard of the Good and the Beautiful 3rd edition of their K language arts? I think they have addressed a lot of the issues you and others have brought up. Pursuing Peace here on YouTube has a comparison video.

Any tips my sons has almost mastered the letter name and sounds need work on blending syllables etc. And i know all about reading 1 starts after u learn those things so any suggestions on wat to do to catch him up so he can start level 1? Was thinking teach your child to read in 100 lessons
