In order to become doctors who can communicate effectively with patients and team members, students at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine participate in a "Writing in Medicine" course that is part of the clinical skill set.
The class, which is co-taught by Assistant Clinical Professor Maegen Dupper, M.D. and Assistant Professor of Creative Writing Goldberry Long, is an example of the trend of using the humanities to train better doctors.
