Updated Unreal Engine 3 Tech Demo 'Samaritan' (1080p)

No one seems to have uploaded this trailer in 1080p yet, so here it is :)

This is a tech demo entitled "Samatrian", and is a showcase of what can be done with Unreals updated Engine UE3. It now features Direct X11 with Shader Model 5, for the very latest graphics cards as well as MS Antialiasing, Brokeh filter and several other visual treats.

This will make the already popular graphics engine, even better in my opinion and this engine and the Cry Engine 3 will provide a key step up in game graphics for the next 5 years or so.

According to one source, the demo was rendered using an Nvidia GTX 580 Tri SLI (3 graphics cards) setup. Which kind of makes my one GTX 470 seem quite low end :S

Since Youtubes 1080p isn't quite as high bitrate as the original vid, you can download the 14MBps version right here:

This reminds me so much of Hard Reset.

nice. I love how the graphics are getting so much better and game engines improving.

Am I the only one who thinks that in some regards, this is more impressive than what we've seen of Unreal 4?  Not saying that Unreal 4 is a slouch, and some of its new effects are fucking astounding but there's sharper detail here like sweat running down his face as well as mingling with rain, the word "Samaritan" in tiny letters on the robot, as well as just other tiny little details that are friggin' awesome.  I do hope that a late in the game UE3 game gets this level of detail, I wanna see this engine pushed this far for a real game!

I can't help but think that this inspired the aesthetic of Arkham Knight. It's sooo similar.

The old Samaritan was running on GeForce GTX 580s, this demo was running on a single next generation NVIDIA graphics card known as Nvidia Keplar (Kepler graphics processors will be manufactured with 28 nm technological process OMG with FXAA (Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing). Maybe GTX 600 or 700 series is Keplar.
And you are absolutely right 'adem44'.

In case you guys missed the update, Epic just unveiled the Samaritan tech demo *again* this year at GDC...but running on only one NVIDIA graphics card!

Congrats, Nvidia Geforce links to this video on their site. they said it's not 3 GTX 580s, but one single next-gen GPU. im pumped for these new cards!

By the way, this now runs real-time on a SINGLE (yet to be released) GTX 670 ti. That is what Epic just showed at GDC2012

No matter how amazing a video, there are always people who dislike it. You could put up a video of that amazing Cuban young man who is trying to qualify for some biking competition...even though he lost both forearms and can only close one eye from an accident as a child. And people would still dislike the video. I think peeps go through seven degrees of separation relating the video to something they had a bad experience with. I just think there are people who always have sand in their crotch.

Lately i do tend to upgrade my gpu every generation, simply because the leaps are becoming so great. I do go for the mid range card, my last card was the 560ti, new one is 660ti (which was a bit more expensive, but is totally worth it). If you look at games like tomb raider 1 gig no longer is sufficient, so a 580 at 1.5 is kind of stretching it. I feel that spending 200 to 300 euro yearly on graphics is worth it, especially now that we see so much epicness every new generation.

Replying to a year old comment and you wonder why things have changed...

Finally, the updated UE3, Cryengine3, and DICE's Frostbite will drive some decent graphics to the market to push the Gaming PC's, a new set of consoles would help as well.

@Specialist7 I'm aware of that; regardless of where Apple gets their technology, they hold it back in any case. Build-in obsolescence.

I really hope Epic makes a game based on this demo.

After one year this still look awesome! I blame consoles too!

Just to let everyone know, this took 3 580's to run this demo. Performance like that is only reserved for the people who have money or the ability to wait for kepler to "prove" itself.
So if you have $1, 500 just for the cards, Cheers m8.

@Magnum318 There won't be a 670 Ti. You probably mean the 660 Ti or 670.
