This video will take a close look at 2 popular quilting scrap bags. These are little bags of new fabric that typically are part of a collection or that coordinate with each other. They are typically are from the fabric manufacturer and are a result of getting left-overs after cutting pre-cut fabric bundles. These are noticeably less expensive than their "perfect" pre-cut family members. These guys are not quilt big enough to go into something. Some are just stragglers. No matter how they got into the bag, they are a steal in price. Let's take a look at 2 bags by Moda Fabric and Ruby Star Society. Check the links below to find these bags.

I love the Moda fabric scrap bag. The way it looked to me it was color coronated. I also loved the design. Thank you so much for doing this video because I always wondered what they looked like inside.

Oh! One other comment... give the scrap a good press; then hold it up to the LIGHT; these scrap bag fabrics are 'ends from the mfg. bolt where they were fastened to the machinery'... what you may not be aware of is that there is a line of pinholes just up from the selvedge edge where this occurred. The scrap has to be cut off along that pinhole edge, not the selvedge...as it is un useable in a project... sometimes you get lucky, and the pinholes are right IN the selvedge... but I have purchased the Moda scrap bags before, and have noticed this... it was still fun to buy them and to use them... but important to know, as the strips need to be cut down, from the original size from what they are when you purchased them.

I just found this post. Enjoyed your review. I have looked at moda several times and always hesitate. I had never heard of the Ruby. I think we need to realize that it is scraps not pieces of yardage. If you are into mini projects, strings or FPP I think these would be great or for stash building. Still on fence whether to purchase or not as my stash is large and you can’t pick a color or colors which is what I want. Thanks.

I got the cranberry line. From Moda
I liked it so much I bought a jelly roll so with the scraps bag I made a baby quilt and with the jelly roll I made Rail fence. And it wasn’t vary big but couldn’t get any more fabric
From that line. But I might of only got 3 scrap bags and it’s not a bad deal my first one was 12.00 but now it’s about 24.00 it’s doubled in price. Great way to save for that. Salvage quilt there so pretty.

If you make charity quilts, you can make good quilts from those scraps even eith a bit of the selvedge showing.

I couldn't find whereto purchase these. The last time ( and only) is bag I purchased was 98 percent strings. I received a Email from where I purchased it from asking for my opinion of purchase and I don't believe they liked my response. It was a good stuffing for a couple of pincushions I (from Walmart fat quarters) I made.
I would gladly order some of these bags.
Thank you for sharing ☺️☺️☺️.

So of course the Ruby Star was out of Stock. I definitely think it was a better deal for Ruby star if they were the same price.

I bought the Moda bag one time. Very disappointed. Won't get it again. Strips were too narrow for my use after trimming off selvage.
