This is especially offputting when it comes to ham. Pork is notorious for parasites, namely the pork tapeworm, which can set up cyst homes in tissue away from the digestive system (including the brain).

This pisses me off, because upon learning on a farm/ranch and have been in a program as a kid that involves learning to take care of livestock and showing livestock (4-H & FFA, look it up) and learned the right ways to when and where to administrator a shot to an animal before slaughter. Anyone in the livestock industry knows that you have to be careful with such things or else this will happen. Really makes good ranchers who actually care about their produce look bad even more.

I live in Sweden and have never seen this before. Of course there are extremely strict laws here in Sweden when it comes to animals and they check up on any farmer no matter how remote without warning. This way they have caught and punished farmers that’s behind this kind of treatment to their animals. And you’re automatically banned from owning any kind of animal for life, so that’s good. They even check up on these farmers now and then to make sure they have no animals, which is excellent.
I’m a hunter and eat meat every day, animals should be treated with respect all the way from birth to the slaughtering.

Use to work at a beef processing plant as a tender puller and we would run into abscess every so often. Light green and disgusting vomit inducing smell. One of the nastiest things I’ve ever smelled in my life!
