For your future knowledge, the term is PCIe not PCLe.

[Here's a Little Rank of Mine.] I hate those pesky fonts that don't always allow for accurate interpretation of what certain letters & numbers are. Example: The lower case l (L) can Iook like the capital letter I (eye) and sometimes the number 1.
And... what is up with the webpages designers who use simple templates that use gray font's on a similar background? Contrast (like black text on a white background) is very important for those of us who are trying to avoid spending more money upgrading our current eye glasses. After all, we have expensive computers to buy. Have you priced out the cost of 64Gb of RAM lately? WOW!

Well, thanks for letting me vent.
Great podcast. Keep up the good work.

We just purchased a $5000+ Puget Systems workstation to process projects with 42mpx images ranging from 1000-10, 000 plus. The need came from a 10, 700 image project which we able to process in parts, but not as a whole. The workstation will be in next week and will have the threadripper 16 core, Nvidia gforce (forget which one) 128 gigs ddr4 and a 2tb SSD. Puget systems has done a good job at setting up a workstation specifically for pix4d.

When I looked at AgiSoft Photoscan Pro's hardware requirements, I found that high end gaming computers fit their specs the best. So, I just went with an Alienware (Dell) Area 51 computer. It has a Core i7 processor, 32 gb Ram and a high end NVIDIA GeForce Graphics card. Spent about $3, 500. So far it has worked OK. I have processed projects with up to 1300 photos and I'm about to do a 1900 photo project with it. Although, I wish I would have gotten a larger SSD drive. That may be my next upgrade.

Pretty Simple :

Ryzens are good today ! we got a few 1700x 8 core 8 thread with a bunch of AMD vegas 64's for rendering and processing 2 per workstation ... SSD for OS and a PCIE 500GB for Scratch and 2 Seagate PROS 6 TB sustained read and write of 220MB'/s with 5 years Warranty with 2 years Forensic data recovery included!! - FREE! AMD vegas are way better at COMPUTE than 1080s (not a gaming debate guys) 64gb ram heaps - use PCIE as 2nd page file!!! = Awesome results - We play with 20 mpx images and 1500 plus photos for ortho.... = easy win!

Buy an AMD Threadripper machine if your going for an I9. besides Intel just had a bug discovered that would probably hurt this exact sort of workflow.

Best thing whold be to get a ryzen thredripper, 512gb m.2, 32gb ram (if your projects are above 1000 pictures or if the pictures are above 40mp go with 64gb) then just but the best GPU you can afford :) look at pix4d site, herre the test Said that a Dual 8-cores Xeon (16 cores) E5-2650 v2
Nvidia TITAN Black
64GB RAM
Is only 1/3 faster then a

8-cores Ryzen 7 1800
Nvidia Geforce 1050Ti
32gb
That is a insane price diffrence :p
So Thredripper iaf you can afford iaf not normal ryzen Will be god enough ;)

Great way to throw away your money. Not everybody has $3500.00 to burn and even though not many people are tech savvy recommending Origin websites for prebuilt PC is just about the most expensive option you can give.
