I had this with one of my cats. She kept bringing home small frogs though we had no ponds nearby. One day a neighbour came with said cat saying she had taken over their house but they hadn’t kidnapped her. That led to a wonderful friendship where Lucy got her hearts desire, the love of two adoring families.

My female cat tiger had my neighbor and I in the middle of the street claiming who owns my cat. The thing is that her cat is a boy tiger looking cat, they resembled a lot. She couldn't believe that she's been letting my cat in and out of her home for months 😄

Cats don't consider themselves "owned". In their minds they are born free and simply decide to continue gracing us with their presence.

I had a white tomcat years ago that did the same thing.
He would stay around for a while and then disappear for 2 months or so.
One day he would show back up like nothing ever happened. I saw him once at a house a couple of miles from mine.
He stopped and looked at my car but would not come near, lol.

The story is wonderful, But reminds me of a sadder one we had a similar situation w/ a black lab German shepherd mix Blackie at our house. She was also set up and the neighbor's house two houses down on the other side of the street 😂 She had her litter of 10 (dad was a pit)& went off to bring the puppies back-and-forth apparently The Dayton Ohio Humane Society came in my gate up on my porch while I was at work & stole our puppies & Blackie . My kids called me at work yelling & crying (12&14)The whole neighborhood was crushed. Everyone was looking forward to having a puppy when I went down to claim her
They said we had no claim because we couldn't prove she was ours, then said that she & the puppies were malnourished but I could buy her, a license for Blackie & then pay to get our puppies back. I couldn't take Blackie because the puppies weren't weaned yet. When we went back, they were gone. Basically, they stole our Blackie her 10 puppies & sold them. That was over 23 years ago & I'm still pissed.😡

Some cats enjoy more than one home. Hopefully owners will understand this double life of their kitty and not interfere with the kitty's decision. I had a rescue cat who had more than one home and eventually move to a single home where she lived out her final years. I kept in touch but was happy if she was happy.
