Today I'm sitting in front of a Kimball Piano, a 6760 viennese classic. A lot of you guys will remember the name Kimball because it's on a ton of upright pianos. They're usually oak, and they're usually in old people's houses. But this one is on a shiny black baby grand piano, and that's unique!
What makes Kimball viennese classics unique is that during this time Kimball actually owned Bösendorfer.

So Bösendorfer for those of you that don't know is, is a kind of like the Maserati of pianos they're from Austria. Yamaha owns them right now but they're very high end pianos. It is a huge high-end piano company.

As a piano technician, my opinion is that these Kimball pianos classics are very similar to Bösendorfer. They have the same direct coupled bridges with the holes in the back, and the base section. Their action design is very similar.

This Kimball Piano was made in 1983 and this is just a really nice piano for the price, and basically it's kind of like a discounted Bösendorfer. It's a spotless sound, it's a great melodic sound down in the bass.

I possess this in a 5'8." Produces crystal clear sound w/ Bosendorfer/Austrian soundboard and Schwander action. I play lots of This piano delightfully delivers their music as intended.

I just inherited my mom’s Viennese Classic piano and absolutely love it. I would highly recommend that anyone in the piano market at least check those out, especially if you like German music. The Viennese Classic could be described as a Bösendorfer Lite. One minor point. Given my personal experience, it would be much more accurate to liken the Bösendorfer to an Audi as they have a lot of similarity in their respective realms, allowing me to do almost anything I want with a high intensity musical experience. Incidentally I rented an Audi A3 and ran it 240 kph on the German Autobahn.

I just became aware of these today. What do they go for?

Excellent review, but the I-V-Vi-Iv progression is overused in music nowadays!

Bösendorfer is an Austrian, not a German, brand.
