Old Tom himself never did this song any better.

Ten years later, I just stumbled on this. It's bloody amazing. If you happen to see this, I hope you're still making music in some capacity, and sharing it somewhere.

Most people don't cover Tom Waites too well. Glad to see the exception.

Well I hope that I don't fall in love with you
'Cause falling in love just makes me blue,
Well the music plays and you display
Your heart for me to see,
I had a beer and now I hear you
Calling out for me
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

Well the room is crowded, people everywhere
And I wonder, should I offer you a chair?
Well if you sit down with this old clown,
Take that frown and break it,
Before the evening's gone away,
I think that we could make it,
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

I can see that you are lonesome just like me,
And it being late, you'd like some some company,
Well I turn around to look at you,
And you look back at me,
The guy you're with has up and split,
The chair next to you's free,
And I hope that you don't fall in love with me.

Well the night does funny things inside a man
These old tom-cat feelings you don't understand,
Well I turn around to look at you,
You light a cigarette,
I wish I had the guts to bum one,
But we've never met,
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

Now it's closing time, the music's fading out
Last call for drinks, I'll have another stout.
Well I turn around to look at you,
You're nowhere to be found,
I search the place for your lost face,
Guess I'll have another round
And I think that I just fell in love with you.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, and easily the best cover I’ve ever heard. Well done ❤

I have sent this link to everyone at our studio and I have walked by more than one office today hearing this coming out of the room. You're a hit amongst our group which has very discerning tastes!

I discovered you on backing vocals for Magpie Salute's Rich Robinson, now listening to you as lead singer puts me completely under your spell. Lots of peace in your voice. Thank you for this pure moment of happiness, especially in these troubled times we all live in.

Just heard another credible version. I was amazed.
Now again. Brilliant. You brought it with you when you went.
Thank you.

I’m such a huge Tom Waits fan. I Have been since I was a baby with my mother singing to me. For some reason this cover brings me peace and comfort. I’m glad it exists. 👏👏👏 Even though my mother doesn’t anymore.

I love everything about this, from the old-time video effects to the lovely vocal and solid guitar accompaniment. A perfect rendition of a classic song.

The way you covered this reminds me of Regina Spektor. That's meant as a compliment. Very nice job.

That's one expensive mic you have there but it's worth every cent for how it captures the character, definition and warmth of your beautiful voice. To my ears, it's shockingly good. Beautiful cover by the way from a lifelong Tom Waits fan.
