I loved that about Ben 10. He was a middle school kid with ALIEN powers that keeps getting updated based on whatever situation he was in. Gwen was his always annoyed cousin who can do magic. Pretty on par with kids honestly. Not only that, even she, who probably was in some advanced classes, made mistakes. Even Ben who almost always was messing up did things right. Not only that, both of them try to fix their mistakes. Like actual children, they assumed Grandpa was lame, only to find out Grandpa was the best in the world.

I really loved Ben 10 the OG and the show where they were older. It’s a great show.

I've mentioned this on tumblr already, but what really makes this funny is that the omnitrix has a *timer*.
He stays transformed for 10 minutes, and then has to wait 5 for it to recharge.
He also consistently gets attacked by anything from aliens to superpowered villains, to guys with improbable tech. Like, all the time.
And he uses this precious time, risks the delay, to mess with his cousin, and steal golf carts.

Especially funny since this is the point in the series where the Ghostfreak dna is sentient. This means Z’skayr, the king of the ectoneurites, a being so strong even Vilgax with the power of 10 worlds needed Ben’s help to stop him, was sitting watching as Ben was using his body to avoid eating his aunt’s crap lunch and to steal a golf cart for the lols

And i like to think his overusage of ghostfreak for mundane things is what awakened the dnas consciousness

Also, what made more unique than the other superheroes that inspired him was that his parents were alive. He never had an uncle ben moment, nor did he have a tragic backstory.

Ben still has occasions like this and it’s hilarious. In Omniverse the universe got destroyed and he basically had to recreate it with Alien X, but couldn’t get a few details right here and there, and the one thing that bothers him the most is that he couldn’t get the quality of the Mr Smoothie’s drinks quite right. Gave himself a cool new hoodie though

There was also a great, subtle, development of Ben's confidence. In early episodes, if he timed out he'd run away and hide. In later episodes, he'd either do a last bit of damage before running or not run period
