This week I've got a round up of new indie sewing patterns for you from By Hand London, Sew House Seven, Tilly and the Buttons and the Friday Pattern Company plus delightful new season dressmaking fabrics to sew them up in. There are lots of dresses perfect for every day wear and shaking ourselves out of that lounge wear now Spring has finally arrived and we're able to venture out a little more. I'm working hard on building up the casual day dress section of my wardrobe and these patterns look perfect. There's also a cheeky, easy sew, casual fit blazer perfect for layering thrown in too. As always everything I talk about is available on our site and you can find the links below:

It's so helpful to be introduced to new indie patterns! I love how they fit much better than the big 4 pattern companies.

Thank you so much Lucy, I really really enjoyed watching you talk us through these patterns, I especially liked the informal jacket, it’s a great style for any season. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags

Great fabric pairings, so helpful for inspiration. Also feels like I’m getting a sewing hit whilst sat on the sofa!

Interesting comments about collar stands. They do not have to be scary if you take care.
I came back to sewing a couple of years ago after 20- odd years away. I’d previously never thought of making a tailored shirt or a collar with a stand. Guess what one of my first projects was..? Just in my experience; taking time, reading and re-reading the instructions and looking at other sources ( eg on YouTube and Google) and being slow and precise in sewing is crucial.

The wrap top in the poppies on grey (a John Kaldor print?) would look gorgeously 50s with grey skinny jeans or capris

When you describe the patterns would it be possible to say if they allow for alteration above the waist.I am short waisted and always need to do this but it is not possible on all patterns. Thank you.
I have not watched you before and found it very interesting and have subscribed
