The Presidents' Conference Commitee , PCC streetcars represents the most imporant development in streetcar technology in this century. 5000 were built for use in the United States and Canada from 1936 to 1952.

Ivor Walsh , Jim Borland , John Mills and John Prophet's colour films captures PCCs in Brooklyn, Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington, Philadelphia, Montreal, Johnstown and New Jersey.

This video was produced by the late Ray Neilson of GPS Video. It is posted here as a tribute to his work and to honour his legacy. Rest in Peace Ray.

They used to run these on on Torresdale Ave until the 90s in Philadelphia. They restored some of these and I believe still run them from Richmond and Allegheny to west Philadelphia. The were painted in the old PTC colors of green and light tan instead of the red white and blue SEPTA colors. I miss these trolleys, brings me back to a better time.

I bought this on VHS tape back in the early 90s. My ex-wife thought I was such a weirdo and geek being into streetcars. But my city has only expanded the routes since that time. Oh, and I once had a pleasant chat with Ray Neilson standing on a streetcar island on the Spadina line; he gave me a old car transfer. Yup, I'm a confirmed streetcar geek with Ray's stamp of approval.

how were the Washington DC powered? They didn't seem to have a catenary system they were hooked up to.
