Am I the only one who's still hoping that one fine day this gentleman steps to the mic and admits that he's effed something up instead of evading - like throwing his punter under the bus? Like this is the main message of what he says, not just a fleeting moment of the fifth subordinate clause ("yes, this should have been done better, but...")? If he said yes, those two challenges were mistakes - and not move immediately on on a tangent, that would already be a progress. But instaed he chose to throw out such a huge pile of BS about not challenging if one wants to win them (what???) that I'm quite sure most of the journalists had a hard time keeping a straight face. Those two timeouts he just threw away (because both were obviously wrong) could have been invaluable - how much did he talk about that on his own, unprompted? For me that's one of the things genuine leadership really shows. If there ever was a game which the Ravens lost because Ray Lewis failed to make a tackle - do you think he started talking about the punter needing to do a better job, in the locker room? Or how OTHER aspects contributed to the L?
John, you should learn to take active, outward and demonstrative responsibility. I can't remember you ever exercising this leadership quality in public. You will find that it won't make you seem weaker - quite the contrary.
