I fixed my blind spot problem by buying a set of small rectangular blind spot mirrors which adhere to the outside mirrors. I placed these horizontally on the lower inside of the mirrors. These work great and can instantly see if there is something next to me. Approx. $4.99 at Autozone... Thanks for the video! Didn't know about the warning beep.

It seems to me that it must be difficult to tell how far back a vehicle is in that little window, and also, how fast it is approaching. When my Lexus mirror light is not blinking, I'm confident that I have plenty of room to change lanes.

Tesla just needs to add something on the mirror, or some sort of after market product to get it on the mirror or inside the car near the mirrors. As you mentioned in the video. its tough to look at the screen in the car and the mirror. Tesla tried to create something new when the tech in place was already good, sort of like they did when they removed the parking sensors that were working fine, and now the car can't sense when it close to an object and about to hit it lol.

Hey Chris, thanks for covering this tip! I do wish there was a light that comes on when a car is in your blind spot even if you aren't signaling to change into that lane. I haven't quite gotten used to looking at the screen before and while changing lanes even with FSD but I'm a newbie so time will fix that. Cheers and drive safely and automatically.

I don't like the blinds spots monitoring in tesla model 3 as no light on the mirror

So, if I have to turn left, I check screen to my right ( opposite in Australia where I am now). That is not very good

Hi, thank you for all your great videos. We just recently yesterday purchased a 18 model S 75D it does have the MCU two update downloaded all the latest software updates but I cannot find this option in there. I do have side cameras and when I put it in reverse the side, cameras come up, but I cannot figure out how to get them to come up with the blinkers, thank you very much

I test drove a model Y today. Maybe you get used to it, but I found this blind spot monitoring horrible and dangerous. It's almost as bad as the navigation. Nice vehicle, but for a 2023, they've gone backwards from some very simple tech just to be different.

What Tesla is missing is a Rear Cross Traffic Warning - which makes no sense since the car has the hardware to make it happen. My wife’s 2017 Honda CR-V has it but my 2022 Model Y doesn’t. The Honda is much safer in a parking lot than the Tesla. When will Tesla add this feature with an OTA update? Without this feature, Tesla is NOT the safest car.

The bip when turning signal is essential...I dont know why tesla cant add something tha simple 🤔

Is that feature part of the car or you need to buy the autopilot/extra function to get it?

Hi Chris, thanks for another great video! I already knew about all these features, yet I wanted to comment that, in my modest opinion, Tesla should have placed the turn signal camera view on the opposite side (right side) of the screen as your right hand grabbing the steering wheel tends to get in the way of you being able to see the image of the turn signal camera displayed, especially for those of us that have installed a base that allows us to swivel that display up and down as well as side to side…Maybe they’ll come up with an update that allows us to change the position where the turn signal camera is displayed…

No cross traffic alert in 2024 Y. I thought it was a basic thing in all cars. You really need it when reversing from perpendicular parking

I do wanna add that I like driving with two hands and I have to drop my right arm each time to see the blind spot camera on the screen. Coming from my 19’ accord with blind spot light on the mirror and An audible beep even before changing lanes, this was a step backward for me 🥲

Do you know if we can see the camera at the front bumper for the blind spots at the front lights?

I almost got hit 3 times because my Tesla model 3 2003 blind spot and lane departure warning work just sometimes.

Does the system work the same in the newer cars that don't have the ultrasonic sensors?
