Why protecting animal migrations could help the planet - The Climate Question, BBC World Service

From wildebeest in the Serengeti to sharks in the sea, climate change is altering animal migrations. It's not just impacting the wildlife but our fight against climate change itself.

Every year, the great migration sees hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, gazelles, zebras and antelopes migrate from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania to Kenya's Maasai Mara in search of water and juicy grass.

But rising temperatures and unpredictable weather are changing this epic animal journey dramatically. It’s the same for great white sharks, which are being spotted in areas where they’d never normally live.

Tanzanian safari guide Neema Amos takes us into the Serengeti to explain why the wildebeest migration is so important. And shark expert Trisha Atwood reveals how these changes affect not just the animals, but our fight against climate change itself.

Lovely listening to this video. A fun way to improve English skills and always learning something I didn't know so far. More concerned than before about the importance of wildlife for the Planet, for all of us. 💚💜💚

The climate has been changing since the earth formed and will continue when we are all gone ...The Roman and middle ages warming periods that confuse the feeble minded...it was so hot in the 70s the tarmac was melting...not seen that since then...

I remember when we migrated to uk in the 70’s.The bin man would not take away rubbish from just any bag. It had to be a black bag. Never seen such snobbery, specially as we came from a third world country where we learned to recycle almost everything as we lived below poverty line by western standards, but were middleclass from where we came from. This is what happens in an unequal created by western colonialism

The planet will end up just fine ... once mankind eliminates itself.

I'm really concerned about the annual death figures of British Birds 🐦 as a result of Wind Turbine Blade Strikes.
10, 000 to 100, 000 birds DIE each year because of Wind Turbines and I've yet to hear anything from the BBC about these astronomical figures.
