We have the first model, still works, but will be getting the new one soon. Our dogs have torn up the knob controls when I did not realize the battery was dead. It gets used by 3 dogs and two cats so the battery dies within 3 days on average.

I am able to get a dog house trained in two weeks with the door. Also, noticed that the rechargeable collars really don't work well and seem to not charge. We stick with the small collars like you have as well.

Bought this door after watching your video. It is awesome. Has some quirks, but what electronic product doesn't. My guy is very tall. For example, I find that if I use a zip tie through the slot in the back of the collar tag and make it long enough to hang down about 1 to 2 inches from his collar, then there are no problems with the door opening as he approaches. When there are sub zero temperatures the door doesnt like to close properly. If you loosen the screws on the unit a little it fixes this problem. I love the freedom it gives him. On days the propane delivery man is coming, I lock him inside before work. Check my cameras and when he leaves use wifi to unlock the door and let my boy back out. I love technology.

Is yours still working well. After watching your review I purchased one and within four months the motherboard went out. Then After replacing the motherboard the wood became stripped and the dog accidentally just pushed through the dog door being impatient. Thank you!

do you have to use the collar with it or can you set it up to be motion activated? i am interested in using it for my cats to pass between our home and the garage where their litter is (one of my cats is afraid of flap doors, despite 6 months of trying), but my cats don’t wear collars and i don’t want them to have to start.

To anybody using doggie doors after 30 years of raising Rottweilers and thinking that a dog door was the greatest thing since sliced bread, I can tell you for a fact if you have a dog door long enough not only will your dog love the freedom and use it, but every other animal in the neighborhood will eventually figure it out.

I have been awakened in the middle of the night to find raccoons, possums, coyotes, and of all of the feral cats in the neighborhood in my house, by now you're probably thinking that I lived in the country this occurred when I live just 2 mi east of Disneyland, Disneyland being the key attraction for the coyote because Disneyland has a population of about a couple hundred cats that they actually take care of to keep their rodent population in check. The coyotes would actually use a very large drainage ditch called the riverbed for traveling miles to get food that runs from the Foothills to the ocean in Southern California. This large drainage ditch happens to be about 3 to 4 MI away from Disneyland and the coyotes would use that to actually get back and forth to Disneyland trying to hunt the cats. Not trying to scare anybody just for those that aren't aware coyotes and raccoons are way more intelligent than the average person gives them credit for if you have a dog door be aware that eventually one of those two animals will find your dog door somehow someway and they will use it just like you put it there for them.
