Why Apple's Liquid Glass UI Could Kill Flutter | React Native vs Flutter Explained

I'm making this video because Apple just introduced their incredible Liquid Glass UI, prompting an important question: what does this mean for cross-platform frameworks like React Native and Flutter? With Android also pushing new UI updates yearly, picking the right framework for the next five years matters more than ever.

I've been a React Native developer for seven years, and honestly, I've never genuinely liked Flutter. In this video, I openly share my experience and why React Native became my go-to for mobile app development over Flutter. I'll talk about my journey from being an Android developer working with Java and Kotlin to experimenting with React Native, and why Flutter's Dart and Skia rendering engine turned me off.

I deeply analyze why Flutter's approach to mimicking native UI elements isn't sustainable, especially now with Apple's sophisticated Liquid Glass UI release. React Native's direct communication with native UI components provides an essential advantage that Flutter struggles to match. I'll also discuss scenarios where Flutter genuinely makes sense—like game-like experiences—but why it may not be ideal for productivity or social media apps.

Whether you're a beginner trying to pick the right mobile framework, an experienced developer, or a CTO making strategic decisions, this video provides a clear perspective to help you choose wisely based on real developer experience rather than marketing hype.

Let's discuss this further! Drop your thoughts in the comments about Flutter vs React Native or any other frameworks you’re considering. And don't forget to subscribe for more real tech discussions and insights on leveraging AI tools to boost your development skills.

Nice analysis! This is the kind of content I was expecting something that stops the debate between Flutter and React Native. It makes people start questioning themselves.

Great video perspective, and its helpful that people are talking about this topic. I'll post my response here even though it differs. When I look at 90% of the apps on my phone, most of them don't use the traditional style of iOS anyway. I like the look of the widgets in flutter, I don't use the flutter provided Cupertino widgets anyway because yeah they would look slightly off. Copying is boring in my opinion. It doesn't have to be a game to have customizable buttons and look+feel. I was a React web developer for several years before adding Flutter to my projects. With Cursor and AI-assisted coding most of the pain between switching between languages is gone. AI-assisted coding is quite tough Swift right now. In the end, I do think React native will still "win" the race over Flutter because of Javascript and native widgets but being able to have one codebase with a blank canvas is really awesome. I am a little scared of how people say Flutter will "die", simply because of manifesting: If everyone says it's dying, then it will die. But if we simply recognize it as a way to write cross platform apps with parity, then I think it can stay, almost like how a game engine would approach the same idea! I totally understand having to make clickable thumbnails and titles for views though.
