Donald "Don" McLean (born October 2, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter. He is most famous for the 1971 album American Pie, containing the songs "American Pie" and "Vincent".

This song absolutely shows the brilliance of the fantastic Don McLean, who I would say really is the male equivalent to Carole King. He really is. 'Dreidel' was just as layered with incredible twists and turns within the same song as 'American Pie' but will always be overshadowed by it. Don McLean, Carole King, Carly Simon represent the pinnacle of the singer/songwriter era that will NEVER be seen again. I hope Don McLean will read this comment. 'Dreidel' is very different from 'American Pie', but just as great!!
