Woman Rescued After Writing ‘Call Police’ on Grubhub Order

A desperate message for help was printed on a Grubhub delivery order by a woman who needed to be rescued from an awful situation. “Please call the police,” the note stated. The order was sent to Chipper Truck Cafe in Yonkers, New York. “We could see that it was someone that was in distress,” said owner Alice Bermejo. Police responded to the address listed for the order. They say a man was arrested for raping a 24-year-old woman. Inside Edition Digital’s Leigh Scheps has the story.

Thank God they read the note. I can't even get the "no tomatoes" I requested because the places near me don't read the notes. I can't imagine being so scared and writing a note like this and praying against the odds that the person who gets it hears your pleas for help. Well done to the staff that helped save this poor girl from additional trauma or worse. And more importantly, to the young lady who was brave enough to ask for help even when there was a chance no one would. I hope she is recovering from this traumatic event and I pray that she is able to one day heal enough to put it behind her. 🥺

Even if you aren't sure if someone really needs help or if it is a joke or you misreading the situation, just call 911. The police would rather have to go to 50 false alarms than have to solve a murder or rape case. And you might never know if you saved someone from something awful but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Very clever of the victim to write a note, and kudos to the employees for reading the note and taking it seriously. I hope the victim will be OK, and I hope the perpetrator gets what’s coming to him!

this story should have included that the restaurant was rewarded $5, 000 for thier quick thinking and actually reading the note. They truly deserved a reward for saving this young lady!
