Interesting that the white minis actually look like the right color on camera-- they do not in person. I will compare them with an incandescent Twinkle set in a future video.

I just learned about the Menard's vintage line. I recently ordered a bunch of transparent multi-colored c7 Incandescents and bulk stringers... I was bummed learning about the Menard's because I could have saved quite a bit of cash... Well, after seeing this. I'm glad i didn't go with them because I would not have been happy. They still look better than most LEDs though for those on a budget. However, the opaque look amazing! Especially for the price

5:15 They put the blue next to the green and orange which will create a harsh glow. You could rearrange the colors to place blue next to red and magenta to create a backdrop of a purple glow. Of course it depends where you're putting them since usually these bulbs are usually one foot apart but I think it's worth a chance. Transparent multicolor c7 are the closest led to incandescent to my eyes (seeing them in person).

wish they would just learn to use warm white led with blue tinted lens on the minis, impressive on the opaque c7s and c9 thought, especially on the price, wish we had a Menards near me!

The frosted C7/C9 sets look very good. Clear ones are an interesting concept but definitely no incandescent replacement.
Is there any flicker to these sets? I tested a set of TruTone lights last year, and while I found the coloring to be spot on, I noticed a lot of flicker. Per the recommendation of a staff member at TruTone, I attempted to operate a few of the bulbs off a custom DC power supply with a smoothing capacitor. I was successful in eliminating the flicker, but further experimentation is required to get the brightness to be correct. TruTone recommended testing at 120vDC, but I think it will need to end up being somewhere around 170vDC.

I have a set of them very kind of C-7 L.E.D lights in my house that I'm using and I think those kind of lights would be better if used outside.

C7 orange, pink, red, green and blue are close enough in my opinion and if I forced to only use LED those type to me are the next best thing as far as I know.

Yeah I'm personally not a fan of any LED Christmas lighting.. on the exterior of the house we run old school c7 bulbs and this year I'm actually going to strip all of the pre-lit strands off of the Christmas tree and run c7 or c9. The year before a whole bottom section of our tree went out and I tried to restring it with just traditional tree lights, small, warm LEDs and come out The way I was hoping.

It was looking real promising until you plugged in the clear sets, i personally prefer the clear bulbs as they match my incandescent ones. idk if anyone near me will sell something similar, but I think I’ll just stick to the Tru-Tone bulbs instead

I’m definitely gonna buy some of the ceramic C9s for my roofline this year. They had a set on display, and I genuinely could not tell that they were LEDs. Unfortunately, I’m gonna continue to use incandescents minis for the rest of my display. Those LED ones are NASTY.

What are Menards color combos on the mini incandescent lights? I prefer red, blue, green and yellow. Not a fan of purple pink and orange being thrown into the mix.

Are the c9 bulbs (opaque color ones) plastic? I have the trutone glass colored c9 ones and they are ok but I’m thinking of creating a pvc hanging mechanism and want something in a more durable plastic.

Have you tried the faceted c9s from sylvania, they sell a 100 pack at Costco for real cheap but I’m assuming they’re gonna look harsh and scream LED.
