Formula 1 Drivers - All Time Points (G.O.A.T)

preview_player
Показать описание
The video provides the total points achieved based on the 2019 25 point system + fastest lap in the left graph, and same data adjusted by races per year on the right graph.

The last Grand Prix points included in this video are from 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix!

Explanation:

Drivers are compared based on the points achieved under the selected F1 2019 points scoring system. All results in formula 1 history by all drivers are taken into account and (re)calculated based on the selected points scoring system definition. This allows for real comparison across different points scoring systems. This means that the original points scoring system is ignored for a specific season and points are rewarded based on the selected 2019 point system.

Point Scoring System:

1st - 25 Points
2nd - 18 Points
3rd - 15 Points
4th - 12 Points
5th - 10 Points
6th - 8 Points
7th - 6 Points
8th - 4 Points
9th - 2 Points
10th - 1 Point
FL - 1 Point

How impressive is that Fangio stayed on top in the right graph until 1989...

Fangio for a long time....but its really an interesting fact that Graham Hill nearly had beaten him in cumulative points. That guy was perhaps better than we remember....

Really well done man. These kind of videos have never been done before and you really put in a fck ton of work in this.
Im just suprised the official F1 media page has never released a video/picture of this trivial concept to help us compare drivers. You sir are a legend. 👏👏

By 1994 you can see on the top 4, the drivers that represents an era of F1 that, for me, started in 1983 with the first turbo engine WDC with Nelson Piquet. Except for the 70's intruder Niki Lauda in 84, all the WDCs would come from them and millions of people would watch F1 mainly to see them. Piquet retiring in 91, Mansell in 92, Prost in 93 and Senna tragically dying in 94.

Now this is the one I was waiting for. Still surprised by how many more modern drivers there are at the maybe drivers have longer careers these days?? They certainly start younger! Thanks for this video. Very interesting.

Michael schumacher vs rubens barichello
Michael schumacher vs villenuve
Michael schumacher vs juan pablo montoya
Michael schumacher vs alonso
Michael schumacher vs a young rosberg

Now comparing lewis it was only alonso who could fit his caliber all these years

Great video, Sebastian vettel by records and statistics is the third greatest driver of all time, from all those years. Wow. It's pity he gets so much ill deserved criticism from everywhere, I'm Sebastian vettel fan, he is great guy, great driver,

Would love to see this further normalised by seasons raced.

Awesome video. Have some questions if you don't mind.

What did you use to make this chart?

Can you expand in how you normalised the points?

Since 1958, while car sharing is not forbidden, drivers who do so do not score points. Did you account for this or award points based on position regardless of sharing?

In order to score, driver/car must complete 90% of the race that the winner completes. Did you count this when awarding points? In 1950 there were a number of races with less than 10 finishers.

Are you awarding the fastest lap point?

Very interesting. What sticks out is that Barrichello, Coulthard and Berger should have no place on this Top 15 list as none of them even got close to being World Champion even though they drove championship winning cars. They were all No. 2's who collected points and kept their team leaders happy by not challenging them. No Lauda? No Stewart? No Clark?

Modern drivers are far more dependant to big teams and big money, so the winners are always the same...
