My son was recently admitted to Top 30 NU. I did not read his essay in detail and I told him I was a little disappointed about his essay because his topic was sports (I read many blogs and they all said sport was bad idea). After watching this video, I might change my mind because his stat was not competitive. He wrote about the day I gave him a ball and said someday, we would play football together. For few years, he was among the best soccer players in the city and chosen for a national competition. Then, he had difficult time, failing and losing all motivations in life. It was his last game in the secondary school and we have family team (fathers, students) against other classes. After the game, he realized he did not need to become a superstar to be happy. The game reminded him about the first day he got a ball from me and he felt connection between us. Those helped him to stand up and motivated him to involve in community and to make impact. I changed my mind, maybe I should tell him about how much I was proud of him.

Easy way I have found to begin an essay and get straight into it was using a personal anecdote. Tell a story about yourself briefly, could be one specific moment that caused you to introspect or great change etc. having this anecdote allowed me to branch off without getting off track and maintain a concise application

This is something that I do after I write my essay. I pull out all the keywords that she talked about and turn it into a rubric. When you read your essay try to check the box as many as you can. Good luck!
