I’ve learned to delay gratification...used to buy something and just use credit. Now, I plan for the purchase. Delaying/suppressing the impulse.

Gifts are my love language. I used to set aside $50/mo for a blanket “gifts” category, but either overspent every month or never left any to build up over months that have no birthdays or holidays.
This year, I created a fresh start, and now I have a Gifts group, with everyone’s birthday and the gifty holidays (not including Christmas; it has its own group) with how much I plan to spend on each person/holiday as a goal. If I am having to WAM, it makes it so much more personal, so I will most likely not take from those important-to-me categories.

Can you rename Bo's budget to "Bo Money, Bo Problems." Please and thanks.

With so many free fitness classes on you tube that I can do at home I will never pay for another class again. Meditation, yoga, cardio are all there. A great and no cost way to stay fit

We have a health & wellness category too. The more proactive we are with wellness the less reactive I think we’ll need to be so I think it’s worth having it in one category. Thanks for the acknowledging imperfections and the encouraging words.

Great points! I really liked the example about how the priority of the money you saved for travel changed, and how you adjusted your budget to reflect your new priorities 👌🏾

I have goals that are based in the reality of my budget for the very first time this year because of YNAB. I never would have known what our annual spend was without it.

This was a really great video. I'm going to start planning for my purchases for sure. I also resonated with making better food choices for our health. Thanks so much for sharing.

I should start asking for commissions for how much I recommend this book, but I immediately thought about Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg when you mentioned tying your budgeting to putting on sunscreen. It’s got other behavior change science that anyone looking to shift their lifestyle in finance, health & wellness or otherwise might like.

2020 definitely changed my budgeting and spending, from getting laid off and resetting my health insurance deductible (yay USA 🙄) to investing a little more in home comfort and office upgrades when my income was restabilized.

Great video! I especially like the idea of thinking of investment contributions as purchases and paying yourself in the future. I have my investment category labeled as "👴 Paying Future Ben"

Paula's Choice product placement. Nice. I'm just making my first purchase today. And, yes, I did build it into this month's budget. ;)

I love this! Just starting YNAB last year was a big level up in terms of my healthy money habits. But I also recently read The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist, which is really about our relationship with money and I think really compliments the YNAB mindset.

Creating goals for this year was the biggest game changer for me! Adding "Transfer Tuesday" so I'm making weekly progress (instead of just waiting for once a month) was another catalyst!

Whoa, I've never seen a brand that has so many passing references to things I use. Habitica, Overcast, and don't think I didn't recognize that GTD just because you did a focus pull
