Top Norfolk prosecutor could be held in contempt

Norfolk's top prosecutor is facing possible legal trouble of his own. A Norfolk Circuit Court judge has ordered Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney Ramin Fatehi to appear in her courtroom to explain why he should not be held in contempt of court. In a show cause order obtained by 13newsnow, judge Mary Jane Hall points to alleged "acts of contempt" by Fatehi during a hearing, yesterday. The paperwork says Fatehi, quote: "'Openly insulted and resisted the powers of the court,' engaged in acts 'calculated to embarrass, hinder, or obstruct the court in the administration of justice,' and taunted the court." According to the document, Fatehi reportedly told the judge during the hearing: "That's the second error of law that you have committed." The judge called that comment, "grossly insolent." She's asking Fatehi to appear in court on March 15th. We reached out to Fatehi's office about this. He declined to comment.
