Snapper Rocks Not So Friendly - Saturday 9 April 2022

Cyclone Fili was trying really hard this morning to get Snapper on the cook. A handful of really nice ones but still really tricky conditions and most waves not quite lining up perfectly.

When I see vids like this I thank my lucky stars I live in New Zealand

I surfed snapper a month ago, and saw 6 people paddle and ride the same wave. 1 of those people smashed into another, then it was all carnage. I'm never surfing this place again. And I live 10 mins away.

It looked 10 times more crowded on the beach than in the lineup, and some of those not so friendly waves still looked pretty darn fun to me! ;-)

So whats the water conditions here? Warn for no wetsuit, maybe a vest to block wind?

Doesn't take much to lump it up when the wind is not quite on.

Used to surf this place well over forty years ago. Can remember paddling out at dawn on a reasonable swell day. There was maybe six of us in the water. Good memories.

I see more surf here in a week then i see in S California in a year

Outter point going off. Dont fret everyone when there's a swell there are plenty for every decent surfer. If jot come back next working day. Ok let me go watch
