426 Hemi in a '55 Chevy! Roadkill Episode 8

On this episode of Roadkill, HOT ROD's David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan hit the road on a quest to build a car they've both dreamed of for years: a '55 Chevy Bel Air sedan set up like a '60s Gasser and powered by a Mopar 426 Hemi. The guys drag out a '73 GMC Suburban that they'd never driven more than around the block (did you expect anything else?), then use it to pick up a bare '55 Chevy body in California before heading north for the 1,000-mile trip to Lincoln City, Oregon. That's the home of Jim Meyer Racing, the chassis builder that helps the guys turn the '55 into a wicked looking hot rod in a single day. There's no fail in this episode of Roadkill! Well, at least nothing terminal.

It is so wild to come back and watch this 8 years later. i remember seeing the rat rod vs. lambo episode an being hooked ever since. I've been on MTOD since the day it came to be but coming back and watching the old YT originals has been amazing. So glad you guys started what you started and kept it going. True legends

They arrived with half of a body and an engine in the back of another car and they left with "almost" complete car. There is some kind of magic to watching them setting up the major components, that's what makes this show so good.

"You were suppose to turn on 39.."

"Where was that?"

"Back there where the sign said 39."

I love how his expectations were low 10s and he ended up running an 8.5.

That 454 sounded tired after it overheated. Spun over like there weren’t any plugs in it lol

Putting roadkill behind a paywall was a decision frowned upon by almost everyone who watched the show, but it's a decision that was made, and I can understand it. I do, HOWEVER, strongly believe that all the videos released that were free on YouTube should be kept up on YouTube.
