Paypal doesn’t charge customers for their payments, instead they charge businesses for processing the money received from customers. However, this even the way they make most of their money. Paypal sells the customer’s data, such as spending history and your interests, to advertisers.

When you don't get charged for the product then you are the product

Just like credit cards, the fee is built in for consumer convenience.

I mean, at this point pretty much everyone sells data to advertisers

They record what you bought and sell that information to businesses that are related to that type of product. Then they send you advertisements related to what you just bought. It’s not really a bad thing. It’s actually helpful. They are just trying to sell you something that you might be interested in at that time.

It's just transaction data, then you get to see more things you're interested in instead of scrolling through things you don't even remotely want, and if you do wanna do that just have an account where you don't purchase anything and clear cookies regularly

There's a website (Forgot what its called) where they reach out to these companies on your behalf and tell them to stop selling your Data and the only reason they do it is because YOU gave them the right by ageeing to the terms and conditions without reading

You do get charged fees on goods and service charges. It's 2%. Which most businesses make you pay more because of it. So you're still paying.
