Dworzec Gdańsk Główny to jeden z najpiękniejszych dworców kolejowych w Polsce. Reprezentacyjny i przestronny Dworzec Główny został wybudowany w latach 1894–1900 w stylu tzw. „gdańskiego renesansu”. Projektantami kompleksu dworcowego byli Alexander Rüdell, Paul Thömer, mistrz budowlany Georg Cuny oraz kolejowy inspektor budowlany Glasewald.
Gmach dworca i wieżę zbudowano z cegły i bogato ozdobiono piaskowcem z Wartkowic. W 1945 został podpalony, a po II wojnie światowej odrestaurowany. Wieża uniknęła spalenia. Ostatni remont, który przywrócił dawny wygląd i świetność kompleksowi dworcowemu rozpoczęto w połowie września 2019, a otwarto uroczyście 31 lipca 2023 roku.
Gdańsk Główny Railway Station is one of the most beautiful railway stations in Poland. The representative and spacious Main Railway Station was built in the years 1894–1900 in the so-called "Gdańsk Renaissance". The designers of the station complex were Alexander Rüdell, Paul Thömer, construction master Georg Cuny and the railway construction inspector Glasewald.
The station building and tower were built of brick and richly decorated with sandstone from Wartkowice. In 1945 it was set on fire and restored after World War II. The tower avoided burning down. The last renovation, which restored the former appearance and splendor of the station complex, began in mid-September 2019 and was officially opened on July 31, 2023.
