Xi-Biden meeting in Bali lays groundwork for return of China-US cooperation, say experts

The meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bali on Nov 14, was productive overall, in terms of preventing competition between the two global superpowers from spiralling out of hand. Ms Bonnie Glaser, director of the Asia Program at the German Marshall Fund of the US, shares more with CNA's Asia First.

I think people "forget" that Taiwan legally belongs to China. In 1895 China lost a war with Japan and Taiwan was ceded to Japan by China in the Treaty of Shimonoseki. After World War II. Japan lost and the the Treaty of Shimonoseki was reversed and Taiwan was return to China by The Sino-Japanese Peace Treaty. Chiang kai shek's ROC government who was consider to be the legal government of China at the time represented China in accepting Taiwan back for China. It is one of the best legal claim a country have over a territory in world history. If this part of the truth is told more often (or is know more to the American Public) tension between China and the US will be reduce and risk of War will be reduce.
