The Day Mount St. Helens Blew Its Top

On May 18, 1980- The most powerful volcanic eruption in U.S. history occurred. Located in Washington State, Mount St. Helens blew its top, destroying every living and non-living thing within six miles of the volcano. The blast was so powerful in fact, that around 1300 feet of the summit was destroyed by the eruption and the preceding landslide. A massive cloud of volcanic ash rose 80,000 feet into the air- covering eastern Washington State in a blanket of darkness. Could she erupt again? According to the U.S. Geological Survey, Mount St. Helens is still an active volcano. While volcanic activity has been relatively minor since the 1980 eruption, Mount St. Helens could explode again during our lifetimes, but another eruption with the same magnitude as the 1980 eruption is unlikely. #shorts

All that blown down timber in the video??. I worked that blast zone blowdown timber recovery. No one was allowed close to the volcano until about 1982, then the timber recovery began in the Red Zone. Finally finished that timber recovery around 1984-85.

You can still go up to Windy Ridge viewpoint and scoop up big handfuls of buoyant lightweight pumice rock that has been cleaned by the elements. I go up and grab a small bag of pumice every few years, for use as propane BBQ briquettes.

Coincidentally that was the same exact day people realized they shouldn't have been around it.

No wildlife was killed-only the humans who rejected the evacuation. The animals had long fled due to the tremors and an increasing heat and Sulphur being released in tiny fissures in the forest floor for miles around her in the previous months as she "bulged".

when you look at the video, it looks like an implosion and not an eruption. Was there a larva flow?

"was destroyed by the eruption and the preceding landslide."...So what you are saying is that the landslide occurred before the eruption. Methinks you need to rethink your narrative.
