This simple mod can improve the looks of your BMW and make the interior look more premium. BMW had this as an option on some of the models, but it would cost you over a $1000, so today I show you how you can install the crystal series touches in your BMW in under an hour and for about $135. I go through each step and show you how you don't have to remove the center console to get this done. Hope it helps!

Compatible Cars are ones with the same style center console controls. It doesn't have to be glass like in the video, but the shifter, controller and start button should be the same. Here is a list that should be your starting guide:

I have a feeling this vid made it look alot easier than it really is. lol I can see re-attaching that ribbon cable being a pain in the arse or damaging it when disconnecting it by accident

Please make sure you disconnect BOTH batteries before attempting this install. If you don't, you will short out your gear selector and it will be stuck in park. If you receive the "P button not functioning" error, you will have two options:

1. You will need to have BMW replace it for several thousand dollars
or
2. You can ship it to Infinite Autowerks in Michigan and they can repair it for a few hundred dollars. This process will take 4-7 days including shipping, depending on your location, but it works and is cheaper than going through BMW.

Yah, a friend of mine bought one and installed in his new X7. After a month, the controller top has stopped working which means he could no longer control anything on the infotainment except for scrolling up and down. So he switched back the stock control top and brought his car to a BMW dealership, there they noticed that he modified the controller top and to fix it; It will cost $5000 and on top of that the warranty of the car also got voided. I mean the warranty for the whole car was voided because of this $100 modification. So be carefully everyone when you modify this part.

Does the lighting in the shifter work? I've seen other videos where they put a cable in the passenger footwell just so that the lighting in the shifter works.

Curious if the newer shifters can be retro fitted into the prior models ie:2018 even if it's not the crystal being installed... i like the newer one vs the tall style. also does anyone know the part number of the shifter knob or where to find it ...
