I use both . £19 ebay SIM tracker that is faultless and a airtag. Once they find the airtag, they think they are safe !

Regarding the con of easily found & deactivated. Just hide it well & take the tiny speaker out of the AirTag, it takes 2 mins.

Another Air Tag -ve point is that it relies on being within bluetooth range of another iPhone & sharing it's location via the cloud to it's owner.
If the car is parked up somewhere secluded & no other iPhone owner is within range, it won't be discovered.

I chose G Telemetrics tracker, and couldn't be happier. Also get notifications for other things and not just tracking

AirTags only work when near a phone. They have no GPS or Mobile signal. So if the thief turns off their phone - the AirTag is useless.

Oh, I didn't realise you can use Airtags if you're an Android guy.
